Six Abu Sayyaf members, 3 government soldiers and one policeman were killed during the clashes with the Abu Sayyaf in Inabangga, Bohol last Tuesday, April 11.
Following the escalation of the kidnapping threats and plots against the tourists in Bohol, the beheadings which include the captured soldier last Sunday in Jolo and the deadly bombings by the Abu Sayyaf bandits, Pres. Duterte was prompted to order the military to kill the remnants of the Abu Sayyaf and vowed a deadly retribution against the deadly terrorist group.
In his speech during the opening ceremony of #2017PalarongPambansa in Antique, President Duterte told the audience:
"I told the military - Do not sleep! Find them! Kill them! I want them dead! Do not give them to me alive! They are animals!
His message to the remaining lawless armed members of the Abu Sayyaf group who are still on the run: "But if you want me to be an animal, I am used to that! We are the same. I can dish out more than what you can!"
The incident took USA, Australia and other countries to issue a travel warning to their travelers. But the clashes happened in NAPO, one of the barangays/villages in the town of Inabangga, which is not tourist destination, so life goes on in Bohol and business as usual. Enhanced security measures in preparation of the upcoming ASEAN Summit!
